Larry Schmitt

I attended Luther College in Deborah, IA, graduating with a double major in accounting and economics. Shortly after graduating, I received my CPA certificate as well, which I held until recently when I retired my CPA license. Early in my career I worked for a national accounting firm and was chief financial officer for a clearing firm at the Chicago Board of Trade.

After holding these positions, my wife and I started our own tax and accounting firm. The firm was based in Palatine and eventually grew to 65 people. In 2017 we merged the company into a Wisconsin based national accounting/consulting firm.

Five years ago, I retired from the CPA firm and joined the Heritage Wealth Group team. During these five years I have worked with clients of various ages and backgrounds in an effort to improve their financial understanding and growth. I enjoy working with individuals as they move through their financial life cycle.

During my career I worked with numerous not-for-profit organizations. I was a member of the board of directors for the Palatine Chamber of Commerce for twenty years. During that time I helped numerous owners grow and expand their businesses. I also served on numerous youth sports board of director organizations, including baseball/softball, soccer and hockey.
